Richard Golub, The Rapping Lawyer

Richard Golub

Back in the late 1980s, a lawyer named Aaron Richard Golub defended film director Kenneth Russell in a breach of contract lawsuit brought against him by Penthouse owner Bob Guccione. As payment, he asked only that Russell direct the music video for his novelty rap track about his legal practice.

That in itself is an incredible miracle. But Golub made another music video for another novelty rap track. This time, he took on directing duties himself.

I wrote about both of these videos for 1-900 HOT DOG in an article that also discusses Golub’s Sikh manservant, his alter ego of Johnny Ego, and his connection to one of the worst movies ever made.
